  • How much are composite doors?
The price of composite doors will vary based on the style and the quality of the materials used. They tend to be more expensive than other types of doors but thanks to their long life span and low maintenance, they are a long-term investment. Contact us at World of Windows to get a quote for your project.
  • What are composite doors made of?
The materials used to build composite doors include wood, uPVC, insulating foam but also Glass Reinforced Plastic, also known as fibreglass. By being made up of all these materials, composite doors are able to blend all the benefits of every single material.
  • What is the difference between uPVC and composite doors?
Composite and uPVC doors are the two most popular types of doors available in the UK today. The difference between uPVC and composite doors is in the materials they are built with. Being made from many different materials which are compressed together, composite doors are thicker and they offer a higher level of durability and security than uPVC doors which are purely made with plastic.
  • What paint to use on composite doors and how can I paint them?
Although you can paint your composite door a different colour than the one you originally chose, most experts would advise you not to. The reason is that composite doors’ final layer is the GRP (glass-reinforced plastic), into which the colour has been incorporated when manufactured. This is to stop the colour from flaking, cracking or chipping with time. It is also best you check if your composite door is still within its warranty period as repainting it would void the warranty if valid. If you would still like to paint your composite door, we would recommend you speak to the composite door manufacturer or supplier for recommendations as to which paint you should use and the best practice to paint it. Looking for a new composite door with not only a different colour but also a different design? Get in touch with our team of experts to discuss new design and colour ideas!
  • How secure are composite doors?
Composite doors are built to be one of the most secure and safe types of doors to choose from. With reinforced materials and an advanced lock system, they provide the security that every family needs.
  • How long do composite doors last?
Composite doors have a long life span which means you don’t need to replace them very often. How long your composite door will last largely depends on the quality of the door and the materials used but with World of Windows, you can expect it to last up to 35 years with little maintenance.
